PS-1 A motion was made by Ms. Rayome and seconded by Ms. Pfefferkorn to recommend approval of the following professional staff early retirements effective at the end of the 2006-07 school year:

PS-2 A motion was made by Ms. Rayome and seconded by Ms. Pfefferkorn to recommend approval of the following professional staff resignations effective at the end of the 2006-07 school year:

PS-4 A motion was made by Ms. Rayome and seconded by Ms. Pfefferkorn to recommend approval of the following professional staff appointments beginning with the 2007-08 school year:

PS-6 A motion was made by Ms. Rayome and seconded by Ms. Pfefferkorn to recommend approval of the following support staff appointment:

IV. Items for Discussion and Possible Action

A. Leave of Absence Request

The Committee discussed a leave of absence request from Mary Bell, Library Media Specialist at West Junior High (0.50 FTE) and WEAC Representative (0.50 FTE), to fulfill her duties as WEAC President.

PS-7 A motion was by Ms. Rayome and seconded by Ms. Pfefferkorn to recommend a three-year leave of absence for Mary Bell commencing with the 2007-08 school year and continuing through the 2009-10 school year to fulfill her duties as WEAC President. Motion carried.

B. Professional Staff Additional Year of Probation

The Committee discussed a request for an additional year of probation for Timothy Concklin, Social Studies teacher at Lincoln High School (0.80 FTE) and West Junior High (0.20 FTE), so that he could be given a good opportunity to show his abilities and receive an evaluation in a full-time situation.

PS-8 A motion was made by Ms. Rayome and seconded by Ms. Pfefferkorn to recommend approval of an additional year of probation for Timothy Concklin, Social Studies teacher at Lincoln High School and West Junior High. Motion carried.

C. 0.30 FTE Additional Dean of Students at Lincoln High School

The Committee discussed the need for an additional 0.30 FTE Dean of Students position for the 2007-08 school year so that the high school administration can focus more time on curriculum needs and assessment with their staff.

PS-9 A motion was made by Ms. Pfefferkorn and seconded by Ms. Rayome to approve an additional 0.30 FTE Dean of Students position at Lincoln High School for the 2007-08 school year. Motion carried.

V. Reports and Updates

A. Leave of Absence Request

Sarah Mendoza (Trebatoski), Grade 6 teacher and Staff Development/Able Learner Facilitator at Washington Elementary School (1.0 FTE), requested a leave of absence for the 2007-08 school year pursuant to Section 501 – General Leaves under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Prior to his departure, Dr. Cavanaugh approved this leave of absence request.

B. Insurance Rate Increase

The WEAT informed the District on Monday, April 30 that the health insurance increase for the 2007-08 school year for the majority of the employees will be 4.6 % for single coverage and 4.7% for family coverage as opposed to the 10% originally given.

C. Special Olympics Service Award

Deb Moore-Gruenloh, Early Childhood teacher at Washington School and the District’s Special Olympics coach and representative has been selected to receive the 2006-07 Roger Kasper Special Service Award. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Special Olympics Wisconsin volunteer.

She will be presented this award on Thursday, June 7 at the Special Olympics Wisconsin Board meeting. On the same day, she is invited to attend the State Special Olympics Wisconsin Summer Games Opening Ceremony and the VIP Reception.
